In early 2000, Colin Candler, now Executive Chairman, founded Fixatex. Colin began his working career with Haringey Council, starting as a field engineer with the Street Lighting Division. His diligence and admirable work-ethic afforded him many professional opportunities, allowing him to eventually progress to the position of manager. After 26 successful years at Haringey Council, Colin decided to start his own company. Soon after Fixatex was created, it was awarded its first major contract with London & Quadrant Housing, where it was responsible for maintaining street lighting. Since then, L&Q and Fixatex have worked closely and continue to do so to this day.
Building a growing client base and promoting the company, absorbed large amounts of time during the initial years of Fixatex. But it was during this time, that Colin’s vision of Fixatex having an impact on the UK housing sector, became clear. By investing early in staff, motor vehicles and office space, Fixatex grew and enhanced its respectable reputation as an innovative and dedicated company.
Fixatex is proud to say that it is a family-run business, with Colin and other family members still as the majority shareholders. As with many successful, family-run businesses, customer service and reliability are paramount, and it was essential that these values were prioritised as it expanded. Colin continued to market the company through strong working relationships and by delivering a consistently high standard of work in a timely and cost-effective manner. In 2015, Fixatex acquired their largest office space to date in North Hertfordshire, providing a brilliant location in which to serve the South East of England. Over the course of the next three years, Fixatex continued to grow and was soon operating at maximum capacity. Colin, his family and staff then began discussions on how they could drive the business forward. This plan required careful market analysis, identifying the various risks and considering how this could be successfully achieved, all whilst maintaining the high standards that had become synonymous with Fixatex.
In 2017, Fixatex was awarded their largest contract in the companies existent, therefore allowing Colin and his team to put their breakthrough plan into effect. With the acquisition of some vital managerial staff and another new office space, Fixatex provided itself with a secure platform for sustained growth. Throughout 2017/18 exciting contracts, additional clients and an increased range of services on offer were all carefully managed by a well-organised team and as the company continues to develop, so does the belief that it will soon be an established national contractor. With a dedicated staff of 60 and counting, Fixatex is a company which is expanding and adapting in order to deliver the best possible service for its clients and provide a fully supportive and inclusive working environment for its brilliant staff.
